Westminster Hills Dog Park

Adjacent to Standley Lake is an awesome place where dogs run free among 420-acres of rolling hills, ponds, and shady areas. Plus, the mountain views don’t hurt.

Award-winning Westminster Hills Off-Leash Dog Area at Colorado Hills Trail Head is located in Westminster, Adams, and Jefferson County. This off-leash dog property is a veritable paradise for dogs. Westminster Hills Dog Park has only minimal fencing at best to encourage off-leash exploration.

There are lots of trails to explore and enjoy the views from this dog park. It is partially fenced. There is no gate at the entryway and the park is 422 acres so you won’t want to let your dog off-leash if it doesn’t respond well to voice commands. You will have a heck of a time catching it if it doesn’t.

Dogs with poor recall may be best left on the lead during their time at this 420-acre untouched natural treasure. With such a vast amount of land to explore, owners can choose from a large number of grassy areas or trails for a hike with their pets and family.

The Westminster Hills Trail will take you to Mower Reservoir which may or may not have water in it. And this trail is about 2 miles one way so make sure to bring water for your dog. Visitors to the park also have reported the presence of coyotes, rattlesnakes, and other wildlife indigenous to the region. Careful observation should occur before entering any of the trails or wooded areas. Also on the premises is a pond suitable for swimming. It is fully accessible to dogs but is only open seasonally. Benches are also provided in shaded areas to encourage respite from the hot summer sun. Dog owners in Westminster can recline and relax on this comfortable seating while watching their dogs at play.

Access to the Westminster Hills Dog Park is free of charge. While bathrooms are not available on-site for public use, fresh drinking water is plentiful to ensure that your dogs and your family stay well-hydrated. Furthermore, complimentary poop bags are also provided to assist owners with the proper cleanup and disposal of all canine waste materials but it’s always good to bring your own in case they’re out.

This park earns high marks for its picturesque views of the Front Range as well as its serene setting. With 420 acres to explore, this dedicated dog property offers boundless land well-suited to running, playing, and exploration. Though no specific rules govern the use of this public space, it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations. In addition to this, it is wise for your dog to bear the appropriate required state license tag on his collar.

For a day of wilderness exploration that you will never forget, grab your dog’s leash and head straight for Westminster Hills Off-Leash Dog Area. When it comes to parking, it has a small parking lot off of Simms Street & 105th Drive. The parking lot is not very big so on weekends it overflows to street parking on Simms Street. There’s also another parking lot on the south side of the park off of W. 100th Ave, west of Simms Street. The parking lot is about the same size as the other.

With lots of trails and nice places to sit and enjoy the hilarity of this Westminster Hills Dog Park, this is the perfect place to get some outdoor therapy. However, it is also a fun place to wander on a sunny day regardless of whether you have a furry bestie to bring along or not.
