Just off of Sheridan and 104th, you will find a fantastic farm-themed playground at Westminster City Park. The large barn-like structure and the green tractor will delight all ages and you will love the peaceful view of the lake and mountains.
One of the City’s older facilities, this park occupies two acres in the heart of the City’s downtown. Its tree-shaded space, highlighted by a historic gazebo, is used primarily as a picnic and play area as well as for weddings.
Westminster is home to several annual City events, including an Easter egg hunt, spring and fall festivals, and a Christmas tree lighting. The playground is surrounded by pavilions, a restroom, picnic tables, and open fields. It also has tables and benches, making it the perfect spot for a picnic lunch. The park also has miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, biking, or just taking a stroll.
Other features include a basketball court, a soccer field, a softball field, an 18-hole disc golf area, a playground for the children, some picnic tables, a skatepark, and a pavilion for reserved events. The park is 205 acres. This park is also perfect for an afternoon of fishing, hiking, or playing sports. There is only one swing at Westminster City Park, a disc swing. It was the most popular spot at the playground so your kids may have to wait in line to get a turn.
Additional unique features are the spinning net platform, bouncing pigs, and fireman pole. There are also many different types of slides from a covered tube slide, a spiral open slide, and many small toddler slide options. If you would like to play soccer or football, they also have a few available fields. The Westminster City Park also has a skatepark and a golf course. Their 8-hole year-round disc golf course is free to the public and is a great way to spend an afternoon. Fishing enthusiasts are welcome to fish at the Lake/Creek, skaters can have a go at the skatepark, and families can have lunch in the assigned picnic areas. And then spend the rest of the day in the playground.
The farm theme creates a unique spot that your kids will love. The open look of the large play structure barn is great because it is easy to spot your children on the other side of the playground. All ages up to 10, possibly 12, will enjoy this playground. There is even a rubber surfacing making it easy for the young walkers to get around and a separate play structure for ages 2 to 5.
