Genesee is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Golden post office serves the area. The Genesee CDP has an area of 4,264 acres (17.257 km2), including 3.7 acres (0.015 km2) of water.
Genesse is located in the foothills of the Front Range. The CDP is 16 miles west of Denver and immediately north of Idledale. The community sits between two major highways of Interstate 70 and State Highway 74. Shingle Creek becomes Mt Vernon Creek as it exits the CDP to the east running along Interstate 70. Other roads snaking through the CDP include Genesee Ridge Road, Foothills Drive, and Montane Drive.
Neighborhoods within Genesee include Genesee North Central, Village at Genesse, Indian Paintbrush & Riva Chase, Genesse Central and Genesse South.
Genesee is home to Genesee Park, in the Denver Mountain Parks system. The CDP is home to several event venues including Christies of Genesee Wedding and Event Venue, The Pines at Genesee, Topher Straus Fine Art, and Field Art Services. Genesee is served by the Jefferson County Public Schools.
