Applewood Jefferson County

Applewood is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. This CDP covers an area of 2,871 acres (11.619 km2), including 270 acres (1.092 km2) of water.

Applewood is located about 10 miles (16 km) west of downtown Denver. The neighborhood is bordered to the north by Fairmount, to the northeast by Wheat Ridge, to the southeast by Lakewood, and to the southwest by West Pleasant View. South Table Mountain borders Applewood on the west.

Major highways serving Applewood include Interstate 70 and U.S. Route 40. Kipling Street runs north and south and serves as the eastern boundary. Simms Street runs north and south and effectively bisects the community. US 40 runs west and east and serves as main street and serves as the southern boundary. Rocky Mountain Ditch and Agricultural Ditch flows into the city and ends at Maple Grove Reservoir.

Applewood has several shopping areas including Lowe’s Home Improvement, Lake Ridge Ace Hardware, Fred’s Liquor, and King Soopers. Food establishments in Applewood include Applebee’s Grill + Bar, Arby’s, Moose Hill Cantina, Mountain Tap Bar & Grill, Ohm Brewing Company, Teller’s Taproom & Kitchen, Lu House Co, Purple Ginger Asian Fusion and Tavern On 26th Ave. Places of education in the community include New Classical Academy at Vivian, Stober Elementary School and Lakewood Library – Jefferson County Public Library. Plenty of places of worship in Applewood including Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Faith Baptist Church, Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian, and Fringe Church.
