Fairgrounds Regional Park

The Fairgrounds Regional Park is located in Castle Rock, Colorado, and is a great place to bring your dog to play. The park is situated on a former fairground site, which provides plenty of space for dogs to run around and play. This awesome 37 acres haven is a wonderland for dogs who love sweet freedom. This picturesque dog park offers a large, fully fenced enclosure where dogs of all sizes can mix and mingle. With a soft grass terrain, this is one park that’s easy on the paws. Two sections adjacent to each other that are about an acre each are rotated for use, meaning the ground stays healthy and pawrific for dogs to play on.

The park also has several historical features, including a gazebo and a fountain, that make it a unique and enjoyable place to visit. There are a few trees that offer small areas of shade for beating the summer heat. Parking is conveniently located right outside the dog enclosures, making access a breeze. The dog park was developed through a joint effort between the Town of Castle Rock, Douglas County, and the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department. Planning for the park began in 2016, and construction was completed in 2018. Since then, the park has been open to the public and has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors to the area.

The Fairgrounds Regional Park offers a variety of amenities for both dogs and their owners. The park has a large off-leash area, complete with a double-gated entry system to ensure safety. There is also a small dog area, which is perfect for those who have smaller breeds or older dogs that may not be able to handle the larger space. In addition, the park has a picnic area, a doggie drinking fountain, and plenty of shade trees to keep both dogs and their owners cool on hot days. In addition, the park hosts a variety of events every Sunday, including obedience training, agility courses, and flyball tournaments. The Fairgrounds Regional Park also hosts special events throughout the year, such as the “Dog Days of Summer” event in August and the “Halloween Howl” in October.

Furthermore, porta-potties can be found right off of the parking area for the humans, but it is unknown if clean-up bags for pups are available in the park, so it’s best to bring your own. Always pick up whatever your dog leaves behind to keep this park clean for all. Also, bring drinking water and a bowl for your thirsty pup. For those wishing to enjoy a light lunch on the grounds, a picnic shelter is provided right outside the dog run near the entrance. Be sure to keep your dog on a lead when entering and leaving the dog play area and in all other areas of the park.

There are many reasons to bring your dog to Fairgrounds Regional Park. Firstly, the park provides a safe and enjoyable place for dogs to play and exercise. The park also offers a unique opportunity to interact with other dog owners and make new friends which can help reduce anxiety and improve behavior. Finally, the park is a great way to support the local community and help keep Castle Rock a beautiful and welcoming place to live.
